Rooted in the tradition

Playing since 1990, I've competed at the highest levels of the piping world — including the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the World Pipe Band Championships. Now I'm bringing that experience to students and events across the Border region and northeast Victoria.

Private one-on-one lessons tailored to your level and goals. I teach the Great Highland Bagpipe from first principles — tone, technique, and musicality — drawing on over 35 years of playing and competing.

About

The piper behind ZenPiper.

I picked up the chanter in 1990 and haven't put it down since. Over 35 years I've played across Australia and internationally, competed as a solo piper, and performed on some of the most recognised stages in the piping world.

Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, 2023Performed with the Scots School Albury Pipe Band at one of the world's premier military spectacles — finishing the final night at Edinburgh Castle with the World Champion and Champion of Champions shields.

World Pipe Band Championships — Grade 4B Champions, 2023Part of the Scots School Albury Pipe Band that took the title at Glasgow's iconic World Championships.

I'm a competitive solo piper as well as a band player, which means I understand both the individual discipline of solo piping and the collective precision of band performance. That range informs how I teach.
